Pan's Flute

The legend of Pan's magical flute.

Syrinx was a beautiful water-nymph who crossed the path of Pan while returning from the hunt one day. Startled by Pan's presence, the fair nymph ran away and did not stop until she met with her sisters. The sisters quickly transformed Syrinx into a reed to hide her from Pan. Still enchanted, yet unknowing of which reed Syrinx had become, Pan cut 9 of the reeds and fashioned them into a magical flute. Pan wears his flute around his neck and will often lure nymphs with the melodies played upon it.
